I feel it is time that we send tons of letters to the Canadian
Pediatric Society. Some of you already know that Mead Johnson has
delivered to many many family doctor and pediatrician offices a "first
visit" packet including two tins of Enfalac, and lots of information
about formula feeding. Included is a booklet from the Canadian
Pediatric Society entitled Questions and Answers. The information is
okay but not great, but uses photos from Mead Johnson advertising with
the following statement on the back "This booklet is made possible
through the support of Mead Johnson, world leaders in nutrition and
the makers of Enfalac* and Tempra*. Mead Johnson's logo is also
there. More and more mothers are getting the Peter Rabbit diaper bag
full of these goodies. Many physicians who would not ordinarily have
given out free samples now do because of the implied (no, obvious)
endorsement by the CPS.

This endorsement of formula by the Canadian Pediatric Society is
shameful and an abdication of its supposed principles. It goes
against the CPS's endorsement of the WHO code, against several
statements it has put out denouncing advertising and free samples to
the consumer.

Please write. Please let them know how people feel about this
hypocritical sell out for a bit of money.
