Jack Newman asks:
>Aren't there any psychiatrists out there who support breastfeeding????
>What the hell do they teach them in psychiatry school?

Jack, the other question is don't they know how to do anything besides write
prescriptions? Whatever happened to psychotherapy? According to *my*
psychiatrist/therapist who is NOT a pill-pusher, there are numerous studies
showing that psychotherapy is every bit as effective as antidepressants -
and IMHO antidepressant medication should be the adjunct to therapy, NOT the
other way around. It may take longer but it is more respectful of the
person and ultimately more effective because it is making changes at a
deeper level. I am distressed at all the talk of depression and
drug-dispensing. There is so much more to depression than a need to take a
medication either short- or long-term and human beings are not being
well-served by mindless prescriptions. Didn't I read once that OB/GYNs were
the biggest dispensers of Valium prescriptions back in the '60s? Wonder
who's giving out all the Prozac?
