Our LLL group refers to this as "the four-month fussies" and, like Melissa,
reminds mothers that baby may need a quiet place and/or more night nursing
until he's a little smarter. The term arose at a meeting when one mother
complained that her 4 month old was "nursing funny" - fussy, pulling off,
not his usual placid self. "So is *mine*!" said another mother. "So is
*MINE*" exclaimed a third. A few months later, we asked the mothers what
had become of the odd nursing behaviors. None could remember exactly what
they had been.
Like Lisa, I wonder how many *really* frequent (hourly or more) nursers
even notice this 4 month mark. And as Leslie said, mother groups are *so*
important...
