Pam,
Add this to your collection of, as I have heard it referred to  "intellectual
incest".  That is ignorance passed from 1 professional to another, and
accepted as gospel because of the 'learned' source.
A lovely mother I was graced to learn from, who was expecting triplets asked
1 of her doctors about breastfeeding.  He said "Women are designed to have 1
more 'tit' than needed to breastfeed.  Therefore a woman would need 4 breasts
to nurse 3 babies."  This beautiful Southern lady (soft spoken but with a
will of iron) went on to almost totally breast feed these triplets for 14
months.  She DID require a little supplement when SHE came down with
chickenpox when they were 3 months old.  She nursed them through it all and
they never got chickenpox either!
