Hello everybody, I have a question relating to let-down or milk
ejection reflex. I seem to recall reading once about the breasts being able
to respond individually to hormonal response when the baby goes to the
breast. Does this actually happen and whereabouts would have I have read it
I wonder? I have a woman who is day 4 following a normal delivery. Her right
breast is lactating beautifully and satisfying baby very well . Her left
breast is very full, hard and lumpy however and very little milk transfer
takes place on that side.I was able to express some 35mls milk which
reassured her that at least the breast wasn't full of tumour. She has a
history of being extremely concerned about cancer in that breast and has had
a benign lump removed. Her surgeons feel that the concern and surgery was
unwarranted and believe she would find something else to worry about if it
wasn't this. Whether or not this is all relevent I'm not sure and I don't
think it matters any more: she's decided to suppress the offending breast. I
will be interested to see whether she eventually finds something else to be
concerned about. It just seemed to me that the left breast had a delayed or
even inhibited letdown, but I cannot find any reference to it anywhere. Hope
someone out there can help me!
