Hi Lactnetters,
I have a breastfeeding mom who delivered a premie - 2 lb 4 oz baby girl.
Mom went home with no pump (told not to bother!!!!). Our WIC clinic issued
her a mini-electric pump (only kind we have available besides the manual
pump). It has helped in the short term, but of course it's not maintaining
her milk supply. I have been hassling with the insurance company for a week
now, and no response yet!! Before hearing anything I had to say about the
situation, they told me it probably would not be approved!!! We have
submitted a request for breastmilk on a prescription for the baby, I have
talked to them and the attending physician has talked to them. How long does
this take??!! I want to scream. This baby's milk is being compromised
with all this waiting!! I don't know what to do next. I am truly lost!! Has
anyone else had any experience dealing with insurance companies and rental
pumps? Please help me. TIA
Pam in St. Louis where it was a warm 9 degrees today!!!
