Dear Ellen , you said:

Dear Netters,
I have a mom/nurse who is nursing her fourth child-all four are really close
in age. Her husband is a family practice doc totatally unsupportive of
nursing. She called and stated she would have to stop nursing due to severe
depression. The baby is four mons. old, and the nursing has been going
well. The psych doc her husband talked with said he would not treat her
until she stopped nursing and that there were no meds compatible with
nursing.

--------

Ellen, this doctor is woefully misinformed. Please get yourself a copy of
Tom Hale's book, Medications in Mother's Milk. It is not expensive, and you
might want to BUY a copy for this guy who is obviously so uninformed about
breastfeeding and drugs that it is pathetic. There are drugs that are fine
for bf. Another case, Jack, of breastfeeding being sacrificed on the altar
of ignorance. You can see that there are certainly dynamics that are
involved, family-wise, that are not at all about bf. Maybe he is one of
those who thinks that his wife's breasts are "his?" and is jealous?

Ugh.
