Let me first congratulate all the newly certified IBCLC's!
CONGRATULATIONS!

Now, as far as herbal remedies: I don't know if this
resource has been mentioned on Lactnet, I don't recall seeing it here
before. The book is "Powers and Moore's Food-Medication Interactions",
9th Edition, by Zaneta M. Pronsky, MS, RD. In addition to listing
medications and food interactions, the book (actually a spiral bound
index card size publication) lists remedies and cautions for approx. 22
different herbs and seeds. According to the list, for example, chamomile
and yarrow can cause allergic reactions in people allergic to ragweed,
asters, marigold, golden rod or chrysanthemums.
There are four references cited for this list: "The Honest Herbal" by
Tyler, published by Haworth Press; "Nutrition and the MD" edited by RJ
Merritt, Quest Publishing, through Vol.6, 1995; "Problems with Ingestion
of Herbs or Plant Products", by Siler, Texas Diet Assoc. , 1988; and
"Environmental Nutrition", Environmental Nutrition Inc, through Vol. 18,
#7, 1995.
The cautions do not specifically mention breastfeeding. There are
cautions against breastfeeding for many of the drugs listed in the book.
I haven't checked them against Hale or Briggs et al, but it looks like a
useful tool nonetheless.
