Regardless of what type of teeth this child is cutting, I agree with
Mardrey that talking with the child should help. Both my children went
through brief stages of 'chomping', either from tooth discomfort or just
to see what Mom would do! In either case, I just un-latched the child and
said to him/her that they needed to suck more carefully, and if their
teetch were bothering them, I suggested sucking on an ice-cube encased in
a thin cloth or some other appropriate icy teething object.
