Hi All,
Since all of my current friends BF, I don't have any problems (except with
the pacis. They drive me nuts!) I did have a friend a while back who did BF
because she saw how hard I had worked at it, and how, when I succeeded, how
much I really enjoyed it. But, she soon got tired of the direct BF, and went
to bot feeding EBM, then switched to formula because her supply started to
dry up since she was only using a hand pump 3 times a day. Anyway, she
started her son on solids at 2.5 mo and at 12 mo he was eating these HUGE
meals (3 a day, no snacks, and at least 8 oz of some sort of milk with the
food.) by huge I mean at least 1 cup of vegis, a whole sandwich of some sort
the milk and 6 oz of juice, and something for dessert. I can't believe that
this kid ate that much! He is a BIG boy (and I don't mean in the best of
ways, either.)
Anyway, mu biggest fear right now (like it is MY fear) is that my sister will
not BF. She is 30, and kids are a ways off, but I don't know what I will do
with her if she doesn't at least try to BF. Her thoughts on it now are "I
know that you enjoy it, but it really sounds yucky to me." There is a lot of
past history of sexual abuse and dysfuntion in the family, so I can
understand "Why" she would feel this way. But, I told her to not even think
about it right now, and we'd see what happens when she gets there. Then we
talked about the allergies (multitude) that she and her hubby have. I told
her about the benefits that BF could do for her child in helping to avoid or
minimize allergy probs. Got her thinking, so I am hopeful.

Enough rambling for now. Take care all.
