Thank you, all of you, for your private and lactnet posts in response to my
plea. I'm going to print them and keep them for the next time.(times) I
feel very lucky to have all of your understanding of where I am and your
perspective when I lost mine.
I did see the mother briefly today and I gave her a copy of Mary-Margaret
Coates's list of ways to "bottle feed like a breastfeeding mother." JHL
1990, March, Page 11. She seems happy with her decision and asked for my
business cards to pass along to friends.
On the way home I wept for all of the mothers and all of the babies and all
of us who are living with the consequence of a culture that forgot.
Your wise reminders:
"Let go of the outcome."
" One baby at a time."
"Keeping the power with the mom."
"It's a miracle that anyone breastfeeds at all."
"Allow them their own misguided decisions."
"Perhaps the holiday stress of November and December..."
I have been touched by your caring and I am most grateful.
