Dear Ilene

My most successful relactating mother had not nursed her 8wo for 4 wks.
because of sore nipples. She had not pumped but had done a little
hand expressing. The babe eagerly took the breast with a no. 5
French feeding tube. One end is placed in the supplement in a regular
feeding bottle with a small hole in the rubber teat, and the other end runs
alongside of the mothers nipple and goes in the babes mouth with
the breast. I think Dr Jack did a Telemedecine on this method of
supplementing on Jan 21 97. Sorry I don't know if you have this service
in your area. This mother was able to fully breastfeed without
the feeding tube within three days. Other mothers have used the feeding
tube for several weeks and occasionally a mother will not bring back
a full supply. Sometimes mother is prescribed motilium to help with
milk supply. Hope this helps. ( Tubes cost $1 here in Canada.)
