Thanks so much for the interesting bit from the 1939 book. I just wanted to
scream reading it, feeling so badly for the baby and the mother. She had the
right instincts at the first, but got swayed by an "expert."

I got a real kick out of the fact that all the village babies had headaches
and couldn't help this white woman--how foolish she must have seemed to the
villagers.
