Overstimulating the breast during lactation will cause the brain of the
person making negative comments to shut down.

Repeating (posted this before)the overheard conversation of Joanna Wiggins
and my daughter, Mika Rubin, at the ILCA- K.C. conf : J (proudly) - 'my mom
breastfed me for 3 1/2 years', M (back) " my mom breasfed ME 3 1/2 years", I
guess it is catching.

Maybe we should ask our kids what they remember of their long term breast
nurturing? I would like to find a better word than nurse (is someone ill?),
breastfeed, feed or beastfeed (as one of the BFHI posters - printed in
Mexico) wrote.

I can also mention the many times I have been in a group of crawling/almost
toddlers/ toddlers and invariably the ones I am most drawn to are the ones
who are still BFing - only to find that out later. You have to see and
understand the mysticism and magic - most of the professionals we deal with
are unable to do this.

In classes or consults, when appropriate,I usually get out the info that I
Bf'd my girls for long periods of time, may times this appears in the
context of 'what will happen to my breast?', etc. Since this is a public
forum I don't want to say what I say or do (in a woman only) group, but I
convince them that long term lactation is fine.

Hope everyone is enjoying the fall or spring, wherever you are. Am still
unpacking and trying to get over the jet lag.
