I'm new to lactnet, & I'd like to say I enjoy reading the varied
material.....
On to finger feeding--
At our hospital we use all of the alternate feeding methods except cup
feeding because our Chief of Pediatrics had a bad experience with it (long
story), but I generally prefer finger feeding to bottle feeding because your
finger is placed at the junction between the hard and soft palate which
encourages a breast suck and can correct a bottle suck. (Yes, I *do* believe
in nipple confusion) Of course, with this method, a glove or finger cot is
always placed over the finger unless the parent is performing the feeding.
