The thread on Robin Frees Strep B Mom has been interesting. Robin, why did
you originally choose suck training as a recommendation? What was the baby's
suck like? What is the baby's oral anatomy like? Yes, thrush can cause an
itchy mouth as can sensitivities to the maternal diet. This kind of oral
gymnastics can cause lots of clicking. Consider another cause, whose clue
came to me with your comment on the infant's mouth being the largest ever
seen. Was there any air space above your finger during your oral digital
assessment? Did your finger easily reach the juncture of the hard and soft
palate? Or did you have to compensate to get there? What are the dimensions
of the mother's nipples? Large mouthed baby and itty bitty mother nipples
or baby and Mom in good proportion? Yes, there may be yeast and over supply
but these breasts don't seem as if they are getting drained. Consider that
the clicking may be extra air space as the oral structure of the baby is not
being filled properly. Do any of these ideas make sense to your situation?
