Dear Lactnet Professionals:
I'm posting this for an IBCLC who does not have access to the internet.
I will print any responses out and give them to her directly, or if you
prefer to talk with her directly, please email me privately and I will
send along her phone number. I know this has been a thread lately on
Lactnet, so if you've already written something that you think may help,
please direct me to the archive to print out for her.
Here's the issue:
She has a mom who is pumping for 5 month-old twins. They were
premature, and never took to breastfeeding, but have only had EBM. The
mom has had a case of either chronic mastitis, yeast, or both (Donna
believes that it's both), and has been on antibiotics for three months
with no relief. Any experience with this, and how was it cleared up?
If you need more specifics, I can get that also and pass it along.
The IBCLC is Donna O'Brien, RNC, IBCLC, who works for Wuesthoff Hospital
and for WIC in Rockledge, Florida. She sends her Thanks In Advance!
Warm Regards,

FYI: My association with Donna is this: I am a working/breastfeeding
mom to a 5 month old, and mom to a 2 year old. Donna helped me through
the working/breastfeeding/pumping with both my kids. I have been
attending her monthly breastfeeding classes for the last two years. I
provide a "live breastfeeding couplet" for position demos, discrete
BFD'ing demos, and assist in the working-and-breastfeeding segment of
her class.
