Hello! I've been no-mail for 2 weeks while traveling, so I don't know if
this has been addressed yet. Wednesday (8/28) USA Today had an article about
a research paper that determined that there was no significant difference
between breast and bottle fed babies in the incidence of Type I diabetes.
The article did not state how the study was funded. It did state that data
was gathered by asking mothers how their children were fed at 3 months and 6
months of age. Apparently no consideration was given to the fact that cow's
milk antigens introduced before 1 year of age could contribute to diabetes
onset. Has anyone else seen this article? And does anyone have a quick
reference on the previous studies done that show the relation to cow's milk
antigens and IDDM? Please respond on Lactnet (or privately, if this has
already been discussed) so we can all lambast USA Today. Their e-mail
address, for anyone else interested, is [log in to unmask] If you would
like me to reproduce the article for you, please e-mail me and I will be
happy to send it to you. Carol
