Hey Cindy C.,
I will definately but you on my list of people to take care of when I return
from Indianapolis. You can tell I did reach early July posts. I
unfortunately need to drive to Indi. tonight with my 17yr daughter for her
second ACL (knee) surgery. I will be at Methodist Hospital where wonderful
Dr. Mary Jo Stein, neonatologist, use to work and implemented in the NICU
unit infant premie feeding "IV's to Breastfeeding". I plan to take a walk up
to NICU/maternity units and see what they are presently doing.
I am glad I get to play mommy and nurse for a few days, but then that much
further behind on lactnet. I promise I will send you Cindy, Jan Barger and
my article on milk storage at room temp. for 10 hrs. I also have many other
policies and procedures that hospitals (normal newborn and NICU) are using
that I would be more than happy to share with you. E-mail me your phone #.
Thanks. Talk to you all Netters next mon.
PS- I do want to share with you all, what my intentions were when I wrote in
1995 the article on fingerfeeding. At that time, I got the nurses to use
syringe feeding for an AFM (alternative feeding method) but then found
finger-feeding had some advantages. Since then I have discovered that no one
way works for every baby/mom and many of the things we do today are abusive.
I will conti later. Have a good week!!!!
