I know that I feel better when babies regain birth wt. at 2 wks. I told
mom to be more agressive about waking baby up for feedings and to
increase pumpings. However, 2 days later, her visit to the Ped pretty
much left her doubting me. I did send the Ped a report inwhich I stated
that I thought this was a concern. Mom has agreed to increase pumpings
from 2x aday to 4x a day. More than 4 pumpings a day was overwhelming
for her. And she doesn't seem to think that there is a problem. Right
now I feel that I need to tread softly so that I don't totally close the
lines of communication with her. Her confidence in me is low due to Peds
conflicting advice.
Think about it, I express alot of concern during the consult and tell
her to increase # of times baby is at breast and increase # of times she
pumps, than she sees her ped who tells her everything looks fine.
Meanwhile I'm wondering if everything will be fine.
Asssunta
