Earlier this year I was invited to give a lunch-time talk to the College of
Primary Care Physicians on "Breastfeeding". Was I nervous! I took along a
few slides and focussed on ways to work through the domino effect of common
breastfeeding difficulties (latching, engorgement, sore nipples, not enough
milk). One of the slides showed hefty bilateral engorgement covered with
cabbage leaves (a former client with a photographer husband!) I suggested
that *they* may lose some credibility if they were to "prescribe" cabbage
leaves, but that *I* was not afraid to. They loved it! A couple of months
later one of my clients had mastitis so I sent her off to her doctor for an
antibiotic. She reported that her doctor had been to this "marvellous" talk
on breastfeeding, and told her that she MUST use cabbage leaves to assist
with resolving the engorgement!
