I was visiting a friend who gave birth today in the same hospital where I
had my daughter in 1994. I was there to help out with her new son (she is
still nursing her 2 1/2 yr old daughter) who was only latching on to one
side. While I was there, the nurse brought in the Ross Breastmilk Storage
Cooler Kit. When I gave birth there, I did not receive any ABM at all. No
samples, no coupons, nothing. The nurse explained that this was for
"breastfeeding mothers." We opened it up, and it contains three little
bottles to store EBM, two ice packs, literature, a small 4 oz can of
powder ABM mix <grrrr...> and their new booklet: _Guide for the
Breastfeeding Mother_. It was written by several IBCLC's, and I have
two questions. First off, I am curious if any of the authors are
participants of Lactnet? I would be very interested in private email...

My next ? is a little more subjective. So far, I have found the
information to be extremely accurate. I am the first to be critical of
any ABM company literature, but this booklet is lacking several of my
major critisisms. (no product pictures, no bad supplementing info, no
pictures of bottlefeeding at all, and I can't even find a product
endorsement!!) Has anyone found anything *wrong* in this booklet?

Much as I am dissapointed by the decision to include free ABM powder in
the bag, I must admit I am impressed with this version of their
breastfeeding booklet. As always, I remain cynical that a booklet put out
by a company that stands to profit from women's failure to breastfeed is
truely what it seems to be. Any thoughts??
