Until recently, when the US started allowing drug companies to
advertise directly to the public, the answer to Jennifer's question,
at least for me, was easy. Infant formula is a drug. Like all drugs,
it should not be advertised directly to the public. The lack of
direct advertising to the public, and competition (limited though it
is) did not prevent most drug companies from making a killing (forgive
me for that). After all, they still have the best salesmen ever,
physicians.
