I have not seen any responses to my first inquiry- am assuming I did not go
through so I am reposting it.
I am working with an ex-25? week premie born at 700 or so grams, now weighs
2350 gms. with history of multiple sepsis, BPD, jaundice, feeding intolerance
and now thrush. Baby has now just moving from continueous to consolidated
feedings, and has never been on the breast. MD's don't want baby to try to
breastfeed until oral thrush is gone, to prevent mother getting thrush, and
then reinfecting baby. How long does it take to go away after treatment has
begun? Can you tell by visual exam of the baby's mouth, or do you need a
culture to determine this?
I will appreciate any and all opinions- either private e-mail or posting-
I think this is a great way for ideas to be exchanged and I am really loving
reading this and knowing that I am not alone in my passion for breastfeeding.
