In a local hospital we did not have our own kits when using a pump. The
kits were sterilised using sterilising solution for a minimum of 30
minutes.

The pump room had several sterilising tanks, and the solution was
changed daily by the nurses. Each tank was marked with a letter to
distinguish it from the others. A book was kept so that we could write
down each time we returned a kit to a tank so that the next user could
determine which tank was safe to take a kit from.

This is not the case throughout the UK - I know of another fairly local
hospital which does provide a new kit for each user, nut I don't know
how they manange the sterilisation.
