Hello, I am Suzanne Haydu, Nutrition Coonsultant, Calif Dept of Health
Services, Maternal and Child Health Branch.  I had posted around July 3 a
request for breastfeeding educational material for S.E. Asians and African
American women to be used in resource packets for our newly formed Medicaid
(Medi-Cal) Managed Care plans.  Resource packets will be given to the plan's
chief health educator and Medical Director.   I thank those that responded
directly...when I was on vacation 1 week my mailbox became full and I had to
re-enroll on lactnet.  Anyways I have another request.  These 24 Managed Care
plans have or will have provider and enrollee newsletters.  We thought it
would be good to put in their resource packets (which now is mainly sample
pamphlets and how to order them) some articles they could publish in these
newletters.  So if any one has some articles appropriate for either newsletter
(provider or Medicaid client) that they are willing to have freely printed,
please let me know.
ALSO-we are drafting a policy for the Calif. DHMediCal Managed Care on what
breastfeeding promotion benefits are required or are highly recommended (e.g.
encouraging a lactation specialist available by every plan, encouraging the
BFHI 10 steps as relevant at each clinic)....does anyone have a sample
breastfeeding policy for Managed Care plans?  Thank you.  I will be signing
