Hi, Lucy. I encourage men to attend my classes. I have found that if they
are not informed, they will be the first ones to suggest a bottle. They
help mom "remember" what was learned in class. I give them specific jobs to
do: watch for too many visitors, get mom a drink, snuggle with mom and baby
while nursing. I explain they can offer a bottle after 3 week growth spurt,
but that often they find it too much trouble and would rather bond through
bathing or diapering. I also tell them dads are great play mates. When dad
gets home at the end of the day, mom may not have even had a shower. Mom can
feed right before he gets home. He can relax with fun time with baby, mom
can get a shower and work on dinner or whatever. I explain how she needs
that 30 min to herself every day. Once the dads are hooked on the wonders of
BFg, they are our best advocates!
