I had a question from a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor today. She has a
client who has breastfed 2 infants, the second one to 12 months. During
the year that she breastfed the second infant she experienced migraine
headaches. Her doctor told her that the migraines were due to the
breastfeeding and indeed when she stopped breastfeeding the migraines
stopped. I looked in my references and found no connection mentioned to
migraines. This mother wants to breastfeed the baby she is carrying now
but does not want to go through the migraine headaches again. My gut
reaction is that every breastfeeding experience is different and as she
didn't have these headaches with the first infant she may not get them
with this one. Any thoughts or experiences on this matter.
