Hi all,
With the recent info on the news about mini-blinds having lead in them and
the dust being a safety/health hazzard for kids, I have been recieving
several questions about the safety of BF a baby if there is lead in moms
milk. So far I have reccomended that moms and babies be checked ASAP for
lead levels in their systems, and have told them all I'd get back as soon as
I had info on the risks of BF if mom has elevated lead levels in her system.
The biggest concern is if mom has elevated lead levels, do those levels go
into the breastmilk, and will they harm baby? I have told all moms to
continue BF until I have more info since giving ABM in some cases is not
possible and the trauma to the babies emotionally without just cause could be
a real problem.
TIA!!!
Jay
