Dear Friends;

Didn't think I'd jump in on the religion thread, but I found some
information that might help those who are interested in looking it up. The
BFHI News, December 1994 issue's headline is, "What World's Religions Teach
About Child Nutrition and Breastfeeding". It quotes prayers and religious
texts, and highlights belief and cultural systems for Buddhism,
Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, etc. Has nice pictures. (BFHI News,
3 UN Plaza, H-9F, NY, NY, 10017, USA.)

Here in Utah, people are taught to eat foods in season. Mother's milk
qualifies for seasonal nutrition, don't you think? Utah has the highest
initial breastfeeding rates in the nation, as I understand, but I'd like to
see more extended breastfeeding as the cultural norm.

Utah, where it's finally cooling down from 105 degree temps all summer!
