Yesterday I posted a note discussing the fact that most people like FREE things
and will happily accept anything that they perceive as FREE. Me included. The
nurses at the hospital love being the GOOD GUY and seeing the look on the moms
faces as they receive their free gift as they prepare to leave the hospital for
home. It IS a wonderful feeling to give a gift to moms, and the nurses who get
to give the gift get a good feeling as they are able to do this. This is part
of the confusion in the issue, I believe. How can anything that gives the moms
happiness and the nurses such a good feeling not be a wonderful thing? At my
hospital ALL the nurses bring their lunch to work in ABM company bags which were
given to them FREE. They don't think about the fact that they are advertising
for this company.

Right now it is going to be a long struggle to get the gift packs out of the
hospital where I work. The pediatricians want them, the nurses want them, the
parents want them. I feel like I am swimming upstream.

What about this? I was thinking of writing a sheet to hand out to moms. 101
THINGS TO DO WITH YOUR FREE FORMULA. And I would like suggestions in compiling
things to do with it. I KNOW, I KNOW, I could write things like. Flush it down
the toilet, feed it to your cat, stuff like that, but I was thinking that with
the help of our dietitian LCs perhaps we could come up with some recipes to use
the stuff or places where it could be donated.
!. Donate the milk to a local shelter where it could be used in a variety of
uses.
2. Look for a day care center where low income parents bring their children and
donate the milk to those who are formula feeding to decrease their costs of
purchasing formula.
3.You help me out....................................................

Probably can't come up with 101 things but there ARE over a thousand of us!
Years ago I remember at a LLL meeting hearing that it makes pretty good
pancakes. Anyone ever tried them? I would think the powdered stuff could be
mixed in with a lot of recipes as a fortifier.

I will compile any and all suggestions, so if you are feeling creative this
Labor Day Weekend, I will be waiting.
