Nancy Sherwood asks about the "credentialing body" for CLEs. There isn't
one. The CLE designation is awarded by several courses upon successful
completion of the course(s).

There are no established standards for lactation titles except IBCLC. That
doesn't mean CLE-courses and Peer Counselor training programs aren't helpful
and meaningful - in my opinion, virtually ALL breastfeeding courses are
helpful and meaningful! It means that course-specific titles and
self-designated terms are not the same as the worldwide standard for
breastfeeding knowledge: the IBCLC credential.

La Leche League Leader is also an international title, but is not based on a
criterion-referenced exam as the IBCLC credential is.

Certified Lactation Consultant), LLLL (La Leche League Leader) and GWI
