Long-standing herpes, as it sounds like this lady has (since she knows she
has 2 outbreaks per yr) usually decreases in no. of outbreaks and severity
over the years.  This lady should know when she has lesions and of course
should avoid contact with her partner during that time.  She can protect the
baby by way of covering the lesions (no problem on genital area, but do not
bathe with baby during that time) and good handwashing.  There should be no
problem bf , she will probalby never get lesions on breast unless she and her
partner have sexual relations during an outbreak.  If she is still concerned,
have her bathe right after sexual relations. There is a national herpes
foundation or something like a clearinghouse, but unfortuneatley I can't find
address.  Perhaps she can contact her gyn or midwife for this info.
