Yes, there have been cases. I know of three such situations: two seem to
have disappeared (I wonder if this means they were settled out of court and
thus not a part of the "legal" record).
One other has recently been filed (hurrah! That means it will be heard!)
and lawyer involved is specifically interested in making this a case that
can then be referred to by others.
As I understand it, mother had specifically stated (more than once; records
in writing) that her baby was NOT to be given bottles or ABM. In spite of
that, this happened on more than one occasion. Outcome? Baby subsequently
refused to breastfeed and has had numerous health problems since then.
Case is being brought in an eastern municipality. Stay tuned! As a result
of this filing, I am now sharing this information with people at
conferences to alert them of the eventuality of this happening and the
importance of knowing CLEARLY what mothers want and not simply doing
something "because it has always been done."
Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
