Jay,
Creasing often occurs when nurslings over-compress the nipple. In your
case, I would guess that low supply is both causing friction damage (milk
lubricates the nipple and prevents skin damage) and leading Ben to suck
'harder' to try to extract milk.
Lansinoh is purported to be safe for people who are allergic to
wool, as the free lanolin alcohols (the allergenic part) are removed. I
have never had a client have trouble with Lansinoh.
I would not use antibiotic cream in the absence of documented
bacterial infection, as you can kill your normal skin bacteria which keep
yeast and nasty bugs away. Skin is more 'friable' (breakable) when there
is a yeast overgrowth. Lots of cracking can be a sign of yeast.
