I think that Nancy and Patricia are correct when they refer to amount of
sunlight exposure. The article also made reference to a) the fact that the
children had received little sunlight B) this was one of the treatment
recommendations. My concern was that I feel the article took the "easy"
direction towards the recommedation that breastfeed babies need vitamin D
(unless they are receiving adequate amounts of sunlight exposure) I am not
sure how many busy physicians will assess sunlight exposure prior to
recommeding vit D supplementation. My belief is that the recommedations
could have been more effective if they contained health promotion
/education suggestions or a media campaign to all mothers (especially now
that Canada is in the start of snow season)
