I apologize for deleting the original message, so don't know exactly who I am
addressing, but I am concerned about the donation of untreated, unscreened
breastmilk to someone with an immune deficiency. I know that breastmilk has
wonderful properties, but there may also be yeasties and beasties (CMV comes
to mind) and the immune-compromised person doesn't want and doesn't need. I
thought i might be overeacting, so gave Lois Arnold (Human Milk Bank of North
America E.D.) a call, and she gasped, too. Please be sure that all angles
are discussed and covered if you go ahead with this plan.
