I am seeking information about the use of depolupron, an anti-GNRH hormone
used to suppress estrogen and induce a temporary post-menopausal state to
shrink a fibroid tumor prior to surgery, in a lactating mother. The child is
3 1/2 yrs. and so could be weaned but desires not to.
The prescribing physician has no experience with the drug in conjunction with
lactation as he has not seen its need during the post partal period and is
not too familiar with toddler nursing. He recommends the depolupron
injections 1x monthly for 3 months prior to the surgery to shrink the
fibroid(s) and reduce blood loss during myomectomy.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
