Just received a call from a dad who is arranging to return a
pump. Their baby was premature and for eight weeks the
mom pumped and fed the baby her milk. Baby thrived. Since
they are followed at another health center I have had no
on-going contact with the infant's care...

Dad: "I'm going to return the pump this afternoon. I want to
thank you so much. It worked great! And all your advice was
wonderful. Our little baby is a whopper now."

Me: "You're ready to return the pump...the baby transitioned
to total breastfeeding!"

Dad: "Uh, no. You see, after we left the hospital the baby
started spitting up a lot. The pediatrician told us to switch to
soy based milk, so we did."

Me: [shocked silence] "The physician advised you to switch
from mother's milk to soy?"

Dad: "Yep. Totally. And it worked great, too. I'm glad the doc
knew what the problem was. It has made a real difference
having doctors and all to help us!"

:-(
