Denise, On 6/12 you stated that the mother has been on reglan for two weeks.
Please take note that severe depression is a risk after three weeks on this
drug. The Lactnet Archives offers numerous cautions.
I have received recommendations for the use of fenegreek tea or capsules for
a mom with low supply. She is now using it and I will let all know how she
does.
Jonathan, There are many variables involved in the iron question: baby's
stores at birth, her injestion of any iron from abm or iron supplement (both
which deplete her stores sooner) to name a couple. I'm sure others will add
to these variables.
It is my understanding that the primary contibution of mother's milk is to
inhibit loss of stores.
My second baby, who was born two weeks early, was not yet interested in
solid foods at 11 months and the ped. checked her hemo. and it was still
very high. Breast milk had been her only oral intake.
