Hi Lactnetters,
I'm new to Lactnet and really enjoy all of the wealth of info I read each
day. I'm an RN on a Mother-Baby floor and will be taking the exam this July.
My topic is frenotomies. I have been searching the Atl. area for someone
who does them , so I have names to refer patients to when the need arises. I
had a patient this past weekend who's ped told her it was a latch-on problem!
Yea , right! I did find two pediatric ENT's (who
work together) who do them. They also said insurance would pay, since it
caused a problem with breastfeeding. All of the dentists and oral surgeons I
talked to were very hesitant. I talked to one oral surgeon who did not do
them, but was interested since she did alot of laser surgery. Her plan was to
do some research and get back to me. What was interesting, was that she said
that she nursed her child but that her nipple fell off! Has anyone ever heard
of this? The only info I got from her was that she has an autoimmune disease.
Thanks for listening and any comments you might have.
