Thanks very much for the posting, Diane, on getting more nipple into the
shield. I now also use shields on occasion, after going through a few years
of saying No way, yet knowing they can be useful because I used one (a thick
rubber one) myself for the first few weeks with my first baby and my best
friend used one for 3 months--her baby was fatter than mine so it didn't
seem to compromise her supply.

After I read your posting I went and got a shield and tried it out. (How
many others felt compelled to try it on themselves?) Felt pretty clumsy and
am not sure I completely got the idea of how to get 4-corners pulled out
(could you explain that a bit more?), but did manage to get it on with more
nipple in there (then of course, the mail carrier rang the bell while I'm
having this quiet moment, unbuttoned, trying to figure this darn process
out... Hurrying, trying to get buttoned up. The things we do for this job!)
