At a recent conference it was suggested that swollen breasts after delivery
(also resulting in flattened nipples) may be a result of the many liters of
I.V. fluid routinely given before and during laboring epidurals to
prevent/treat low blood pressure from the procedure.  I have no research data
to support this, but it seems logical.  Bonnie Jones
