I don't believe there's much danger of passing the virus through the milk.
Besides which, she would've been contagious before she knew what she had and
now, if there is a risk, she's taken away baby's best anti-viral! Women with
herpes breastfeed all the time. The danger is with direct contact with
lesions.
Acyclovir does not "cure" herpes. It does *sometimes* lessen the intensity
and course of the lesions--and that discomfort can be considerable. L-Lysine
can help, though one of our herbal experts may want to comment on that for
nursing moms.
