Another problem has surfaced that I have not seen discussed here, so am
asking those of you who also use L.....a kits (the new ones) for your
thoughts.
A mom came by and I tried (and failed) over the phone to trouble-shoot for her.
Problem was two-fold: white gasket was sticking in our horribly muggy
weather of late AND the piston was actually "walking" its way out of the
large hole in the LACTINA that is its anchor at the end other than where
the end of the piston slides into the white holder. Got that?
Anyway, I fixed the sticking problem of the gasket with a tiny bit of
vegetable oil (as mentioned by someone else: I have been using this trick
for years with good effect). However, when the Select was set to rapid
action (6-7), that little hummer kept walking out of the hole! We kept
having to push it back in. When I turned the speed dial down to 4-5, it did
it much less.
Does she have a bad kit or is this a problem I simply have not seen before?
Any suggestions would be helpful. We decided that since she did not want
to have to keep shoving it back in while pumping she would tape it to the
pump with a large swab of duct tape and leave it alone. I would have given
her another kit had I had an extra on hand, which I do not (at this time).
Ok, kit experts! Enlightment is sought! :-)
