Fellow Lactnetters,
I had a mom call today of an 11 mo. old. She states that she has had
epigastric and RUQ pain since the birth of her child. The child was in our
local children's hospital for hernia repair a few months ago and a nurse told
her that the pain was common in breastfeeding mothers. She has been treated
for possible gallbladder and ulcer with diet only-no X-ray DX- without
relief. It is not constant but at least 2-3times a week. It is not related
to what she eats that she can determine although she does have more stools
the days she has more pain. Her doctors have diagnosed her with gastritis
but she is hoping the pain will go away when her baby decides to wean.
Hormones do strange things but I haven't heard this "common" in
breastfeeding women. Anyone else? You can E-mail me at [log in to unmask] or
post TIA
