What a dilemma! Mary Grant wrote of how the birth mother wanted
to offer her baby the benefits of her milk, but this caused the
baby attatchment difficulties and nipple confusion when it was
handed to the adoptive mother.
One possible solution would be to have the birth mother pump her
milk so that it could be fed by SNS or bottle by the adoptive
mother.
I cannot say how much I admire the courage and unselfishness
of birth mothers who give up their babies for adoption. I am
sure that there is a special place in heaven, both for them and
for the adoptive mothers who raise other women's children as
their own.
