I am currently rewriting our hospitals policy on collection and
storage of breast milk and would appreciate any input that you
fellow LACTNETTERS have on this.
In my research I have found some descrepancies in the time
frames that human milk can be stored.
fresh milk at room temp any where from 30 minutes to 10 hours
fresh milk in refrig any where from 24(lawrence) to 72
hours(bull)
fresh milk in home freezer 6 months
fresh milk in deep freezer 12 months
and I don't have it handy , but I think LLL answer book says
something a little different...
I am not sure which info is correct / most current.
If Pat Bull is still on here, any chance you could send me a
copy of "a comparison of the bacterial composition of breast
milk stored at room temperature and stored in the
refrigerator?"
I would appreciate it.
Thanks to all in advance>
