I had recurrent mastitis for a while last year. The first time, I did have a
nipple crack. The worst (and last) time, I was treated with Rocephin IM by
the physician's assistant at the clinic where I recieve care. She is also
nursing a baby the age of mine. I finally tracked down the cause--I slept
on my side, and would roll over the breast, which I guess was enough reduce
drainage, even if the baby nursed that side at night. Repositioning and the
last round of antibiotics seems to have fixed it, since that was October.
