This discussion on phantom let-downs is very timely. Our synagogue interviewed a prospective new rabbi this
weekend whose his wife is nursing adorable 8w/o twins - YEAH! Of course the babies were the stars of the show
and everyone wanted to hold them. My 15y/o daughter (who swears that she is going to raise cats, not kids,)
managed to cradle the little girl so possessively that nobody else dared to ask for a turn, while a friend of
mine, a former LLL mother who has a daughter the same age as mine, held the little boy. I remarked on what a
blessing babies were, and she told me the following story. One of the women in her office has been bringing
her nursing newborn to work. While my friend was holding the baby she experienced a let down and *leaked
milk*! She said that there were two wet spots on her blouse. Those mothering hormones just wont go away!
